I recently purchased a Ruger Mini 14 KM model ( 14/30GBF) with a folding stock. I took the folding stock off and replaced it with a custom thumbhole stock. I am paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair and a thumbhole is just easier for me to shoot...my question is Did I ruin the worth of this KM 14/30GBF rifle by changing stocks?

That's a very desirable model of Mini-14. You can always put the original stock back on and I don't think it will affect the value much at all--if it is the type of rifle I am picturing (with the old style metal factory folding stock from the 1980's, a Ruger hi-cap mag, and flash hider/bayo lug on the "government barrel"--that's what the GB comes from) then it is a valuable gun. You've got a very neat Mini-14, Rance.

The last time I saw one of these for sale the guy was asking $1,100 for it. Personally, I would keep the folding stock for the future.

Yep. Those guns usually go for over a grand, easy. And fools like me would gladly pay it. Ruger makes some great guns right now but they'll never make those factory folders again.

my buddy is an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman, when Oklahoma HP changed over to the AR15 they told the troopers they could buy their old service weapons, this particular trooper did not want it so I asked if I could buy it, $350.00. Sounds like I came out very well . Its still a very accurate & fun rifle....i am trying to figure out how to post a pic

I think at $350 you got the buy of the century on that Mini-14!

Heck, even a run-of-the-mill Mini-14 (used) at $350 is a darn good buy.

Nice gun! Enjoy it!

Thanks Guys...it is a fun lil gun....and thanks for the welcomes..I have a couple of other Ruger guns too...When I get back from Colorado i will post a 10/22 , that i re-done one winter while i was stuck inside a few years ago.....another thumbhole but I did this one , the stock may not be as sharp as the one on the mini but since i did it ...i like it.......have a good evening guys

Rance, you've got a great Mini-14 and we'd sure love to hear about your other Rugers.

Here's my stainless Mini-14 with the factory folding stock, and Ruger 30-round mag.
