Last week was one of those rare instances in which my gunsmith owed me more money than I owed him. We settled up last Tuesday, and he gave me the money in cash. I stuck the money into my "gun money billfold" without counting it or separating it. When I got home I started to separate it and found I had $5 I could not account for, so assumed he overpaid me.

I went back this morning to give him his refund, and he wouldn't accept it. Just told me to forget about it. How about that!

You'll never go wrong squaring up. Good job all around.

The REAL question is: How in the world does a gun smith end up owing YOU money? ;) That's a trick I have yet to learn.

Over the past few months I've sold a couple of revolvers through his shop on consignment. And, I've broken one and had him repair it, also had him do a transfer. We work on a handshake and promise basis, then settle up at times. This time (and only this time) I was ahead of him.

Maybe Bob owns the building the gunsmith's shop is in?

If I owned that piece of property, I'd be typing this from Study Butte, Texas! Or some other garden spot!

Wait! You just glossed over the fact you broke one of your revolvers? How did that happen? Was it a Blackhawk?

No, Sir. It was a Colt New Frontier that I had just won on GunBroker. The cross pin that holds the firing pin in came out and the firing pin fell out. Keith replaces these with a press fit cross pin instead of staking them in.
