Not me, I can't carry a tune in a bushel basket. But there are some really good karaoke singers out there. The only problem is that you have to hear a lot of bad ones before you get to the good ones.

Back in my drinking days, I sat through some early Karaoke back in the early 1990s. No matter HOW drunk I got, they still sounded bad. I did know a little gal (tiny lil thang) who sang karoke and just blew everyone away. She was a 'Thalidomide baby' and her hands were horribly disfigured. But she could hold a microphone and belt out a tune.

A couple years ago I was working on a recording project and needed to find some decent vocalist to lay down some studio tracks for me. So I went out on 4 weekends in a row to Karaoke bars and listened to probably 250 different people sing. I will say I did note a group of 5 individuals who had real vocal chops.
But other than that 5, less than another 25-30 could carry a tune in a bucket, the others, holy crap what a ruckus of horrible noises.
The worst part was listening to about the same 5 songs done into the ditch, horrible, over and over, it was painful.
Out of the 5 top talents, I only got one of them to come to the studio, but she had zero work ethic for getting stuff done in a studio environment, she thought she was there to party like 1970's rock stars. Obviously had cocaine in her when she came in the studio, was a mess the entire time.
One guy in the top 5 and he had amazing chops, sounded like Paul Rogers, but one of the worst cases of no rhythm or ability to stay in time I have ever dealt with.

What he said! :lol: In our younger days, my wife and I loved dancing and would go 2 or 3 times a week, to different clubs if they really had a good house band or pianist. Unfortunately some of the clubs would have these caterwallers and wannabe singers in from time to time. We tried to avoid those nights but occasionally didn't know they would be there, tho my wife was occasionally asked to sit in a set for the keyboardist. If the caterwallerist happened to be announced and we were at the club we would try to listen to a couple of them and most times we left and went somewhere else!tinman said:
Wife and I have been involved in music most of our lives but my singing is generally for my own pleasure tho I " flam-bang" (as Mom called it) a guitar and mandolin and occasionally sing at family gatherings and church, by request only. My wife is very good in a Gospel quartet and occasionally Bluegrass singer and has spent many many years as a church pianist, starting at age 14 after 7 years and counting of piano study and also plays the banjo.
