The tale of woe continues --- I received the Warne base, but, on its underside, there's a pressed-in-place pin that serves as a recoil lug, that's in the wrong one of two holes to fit the K77/44 for which it was ordered, and purports to fit. The Warne tech service guy immediately recognized the problem, admitted that they routinely shipped this product with the wrong setup, offering no installation instructions or explanation, and simply let the customer figure out that what they bought won't work, and will, maybe, call to find out how to solve the problem... WTF? How can a manufacturer of such specialized products expect to get away with such sloppy practices as selling consumers stuff that doesn't/can't work? My experiences with Weigand and Warne have soured my outlook on what I had once thought was a close knit and cooperative relationship of vendors and consumers of firearms specialties.
Now, I'm suspicious of vendor veracity and integrity. Weigand sold me a base that they could have easily specified did not comport with published ( i.e., by Brownell's) specs for Weaver bases. Warne sends me a base, without installation instructions, knowing full well it can't be installed. I ask again, WTF? I expect this sort of indifferent and duplicitous treatment from car dealers, chiropractors, pawn shops, etc., but not from firearms accessories vendors.
