I accidentally discovered this nice KGPF-330 3" half lug revolver so, I snatched it up. I added the custom wood grip insert panels("Quilted Maple"). Do any of you also like the discontinued 3" half-lug? Here are a few pictures of this gun:

Nice piece - love those grip inserts. I have one of each, the full lug and the 'half' lug. I believe there is less than 1 oz. difference in weight.
The look of the short lug is nicer to my eye but I suspect the extra cost vis the weight savings just wasn't worth it to Ruger.
My guess is that Ruger is not investing much in the full sized double action revolver market at this time. They are focused on the heavy hunting double actions, the small CCW revolvers (SP-101, LCR), the 'Cowboy' guns, and the semi autos.
Even though I really like it, it's not my first choice for a CCW carry because of it's weight.
Just my $0.02 worth,

I agree with all of your above comments. However, since I don't carry, the extra weight of the half lug GP100 doesn't matter.

Whenever the 3" Gp100 first came out I had intended to purchase the half lug barrel model-but, I held off doing this-thus, I finally purchased a new blue 3" full lug. Then, I sold this GP and later, purchased the same in stainless(KGPF-331)and eventually sold this gun too. I never really planned to acquire too many GP100's but, since I already had two 6" half lugs(1-blue & 1 stainless)and one 4" stainless(KGPF-840)I figured that I might as well add this latest 3"(KGPF-330)to this small collection.

"rugerrat", careful, the affliction exists with the GPs too!

Yes, I know exactly what you mean, about the affliction(Ha)! You have a nice GP collection there! Maybe, one of these days I'll have to sell you my old frame Six Series collection, to take your mind off of those GP's!
