Hi,

I heard something on the radio yesterday about singer/musician Jerry Lee Lewis being in the hospital after suffering a stroke. About all I've learned is that I may be the last person on earth to hear about this event. It appears to have happened about three weeks ago, it was a minor stroke, some show dates are canceled, and he's been released from the hospital to a rehab center where the docs expect his chances of making a full recovery are good. Has anybody heard much beyond that?

He was sent to rehab 3 days ago after spending 2 weeks in the hospital. Expected to make a full recovery.

He's 83

His shows these days don't amount to a lot of Jerry Lee's participation for obvious reasons related to his age and feeble condition. He really ought to just go take it easy and enjoy himself.

You know... I've never been much of a fan of Linda Ronstadt following her Stone Pony days, and certainly not a fan of most of her political causes... But I greatly respect her for something she said after she watched some footage of a performance. In spite of her reluctance throughout her career to release any live recordings, she did periodically record and watch her own performances. At one point she realized that her Parkinson's had progressed to a point where she felt it was impacting her ability to sing. As a result, she made the decision on the spot to cancel any further tours. She commented something about feeling it was wrong to charge people for a concert when her ability to perform was (to her) degraded. As a result, she stopped touring altogether, in spite of the fact that she probably could have gone on for a few more years.

I think a LOT of aging performers, some whom I really like, ought to take her advice.

I wish Mr. Lewis the best, but I hope for his own good that he takes this opportunity to retire, look after his health, and enjoy what time he has left.

"Who did he kill and when?"
Probably was referring to his nickname, "The killer". The teenybopper`s used to go wild over him. Actually he came from a musical family of cousins that learned together. Jimmy Swaggart the evangelist, Micky Gilley and Jerry Lee Lewis.

at least he wont be killing any more woman.

Who did he kill and when?
Maybe his 5th wife in the early 80s. Investigation was bungled or covered up. Jerry Lee was a big deal in his hometown and was often helped out of alcohol/drug induced problems. Also his 2nd or 3rd wife’s death was ruled accidental. They were divorcing and not living together at the time.

His 4th wife died while they were separated... His 5th wife was the one that was found dead in a guest room under suspicious circumstances. His 3rd wife was his 13 year old cousin.

Yeah - Jerry Lee has had a troubled life for sure. He was also arrested at Graceland with a .357 magnum., apparently going to 'square it up' with Elvis 8 or 9 months before Elvis died.
