Jackie C. Gleason ?

Watched a 1942 movie on TCM called "Lady Gangster". When they rolled the cast at the start of the movie, I saw "Jackie C. Gleason". I was surprised to see that it was actually Jackie Gleason in a dramatic roll as one of the bank robbers. I don't ever remember seeing him in a dramatic roll that long ago. He did look pretty young.

I watched that one too. He played the "heavy" in several old movies. If you ever get a chance, watch him in "Soldier in the Rain" with Steve McQueen.

Sheriff Buford T. Justice. He was so good in "Smokey and the Bandit." Caught the movie a few months ago. My goodness, no way you get away with a movie like that today but funny. Another nod for his Minnesota Fats role in "The Hustler."

Soldier in the Rain....I really enjoyed it....I think the studio really didn't know quite what to do with Steve Mcqueen at that time, the movie is kind of goofy but I enjoyed it. Gigot is one of my all time favorites and seldom seen anymore. Requiem...one of the best movies ever to grace TV, written by the great Rod Serling.

I caught some of Soldier in the Rain a few weeks back and found another showing which I recorded. I will be watching it sometime soon.
+1 on The Hustler, Gigot, Requiem for a Heavyweight........and pretty much everything else he's been in.
