"I've Been Everywhere"

And knows nothing other than saying he was there. 3 years minimum living anywhere before you 'been somewhere', otherwise you are just a tourist and or a transient. I just smile when people tell me how they've traveled Europe or America, oh really, where you ever established in that place you traveled. Oh yeah, a real cultural revolutionary you are uh. But some will try to throw it in your face to make themselves look better than you. One of my brothers won a trip to France through his work, he thought he was special, I told him I would not let a dog take a dump in that socialist cesspit. Paris today looks no better than L.A. or New York city and just as dangerous.
I haven't worked around them in a while but I have been known to tease union electricians telling them, "I've Been Everywhere", is what IBEW stands for. The guy that told me that was a union electrician just like the one that told me it stood for I Block Every Walkway & I'm Broke Every Wednesday.
Even just driving through an area gives you a hint as to what the area is like. But I agree that to really know a place you have to do more than visit it for a few minutes, hours or days. Having been a career military member, I have lived in quite a number of locations within the U.S., and a couple overseas. Years ago I casually met an over the road truck driver who drove his tanker trunk all over the country. We had fun talking about roads that we had both traveled, and some towns that we had both passed through. Some roads that we both had been on were truly memorable rides, like Highway 191 from Safford to Alpine in AZ and Highway 14A in Wyoming, to name a couple.
Good video; When I retired from the Navy I Was never leaving the Florida again. Only had to cross the State Line 6 times in 28 years and none in the last 20 years. I have not been everywhere just enough places to know there is No Like Home. 
The bitterness in this one is strong.

The time living in a country doesn't mean a lot when hanging with the expats. You have to know the locals to know the country.

I was born in Texarkana Arkansas. Raised in Texarkana Texas. There is only one Federal building in this nation that straddles a state line. You guessed it, Texarkana Arkansas/Texas. And he has been there.
I don't take this as a guy bragging. It's just his job has moved him around a lot. I've sampled smokestacks in 26 states and Korea but we didn't have cell phones/cameras then and industrial plants wouldn't allow that anyway. He had the appreciation of a really good Johnny Cash tune, dissected it, edited it, and produced a pretty cool three minute video. Good on him. I am biased. One of those places was my home town.
Never even watched the video, I was simply addressing the title of this thread with my comment. His type are dime a dozen but you can get fooled because they make it sound exotic and because it's outside of America. I've only ever been couple of times and I have absolutely no desire to ever see any other country, far to much left in America to see.
And I love America.
And let us hope America never ends up like Europe, you talk about brainwashed. Australia, New Zealand they got their guns as well and during the lock-downs were arresting people and sometime rather forcefully. Never would have happen years ago but the government no longer fears the people.
Look what is happening in China even, the news outlets are trying to block it out because every corporation and investor has their hands in their pockets. Welding doors shut so the people can't even leave their apartments. It's real mess.
What's the common denominator in all of this, they disarmed the populations years ago.
And to give you an idea of where I have lived in America and established meaning bank accounts, car loans, apartments ect. And for years at a time, I have lived North, South, West, East and all points in between. So yeah, I'm not all that impressed by people who visit places. I can remember when I started my journey in life it was very transient, for around 6 years and then it got planted but in those transient years I lived and worked in over 10 States.
One of my favorite songs. I've driven all over this country and much of Canada and a bit in Mexico. While one can get a general feel for a place in a quick visit, I would agree that it takes at least a year (all 4 seasons) to really get to know a place and, of course, spending time with locals. While driving through Alaska 4 years ago (all the way up the Dalton "Highway" to Prudhoe Bay) we found we had to dig a little deeper in conversations with locals to get past the tourist front the locals put up. We had some amazing conversations when we took the time.

My job requires me to travel for a living... I may spend anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months there.
I've been to about 47 states and 25 countries. So I get a good chance to see how everyone else lives and their beliefs.

I remember working with this real jerk in the 80's who bought one of those tiny 4 cyl. Toyota PU's with a full sized camper mounted in the bed. He took his wife and 3 kids all the way to the west coast and to something like 25 States in 10 days. I kid you not! They had to be doing 1k miles per day! He was telling us about alllll the places they visited
Some people can go everywhere and see nothing.

Having 'been' somewhere is truly different than 'living' there but then the title is BEEN not LIVED. I have 'been' lots of places and 'lived' in others. Yes there is a difference but the title of the post is "....been everywhere". Of course our resident "negative" has to attempt to make an issue of it.
