... I finally put my finger on what was bothering me about Ruger's 10/22 50th Anniversary roll-mark.
The Ruger 10/22 Rifle - .22LR
50 Years - 1964-2014
Seems they could have used Carbine instead since that is how they have been marked since 1964 (except for those made as a Wal-Mart exclusive with 22" barrels - they were marked as Rifles).
Others may not have noticed... or cared.
