I found out about an indoor/outdoor gun range 23 miles from my home about 10 years ago. The outdoor portion was for shotguns and
indoor for handguns so I drove there to check it out. It was called Lock, Stock, and Barrel. The owner was an older gentleman who did work
as a police officer for the county but got an idea to do something after retirement. He created and built Lock, Stock, and Barrel. The moment I stepped inside for the first time I knew there was going to be many trips to it in years coming. His name was Tommy Hawk. In addition to Tommy being a soft-spoken super good human being, he was a deadly shooter, excellent instructor, great eye for incorrect ways to aim and stand, or any other little errors to help shoot more accurately. He was also a gunsmith who did some very good work on a few of mine.
I took my wife there a couple of times as well as my brother and he noticed things and pointed them out before one bullet was fired. Over
a 10-year period up to 2022, I can't even count the number of times I went there.
But in April of 2022, some scumbag who used to go there himself to shoot at the range, shot and killed Tommy. But he didn't stop there. He also killed Tommy's wife and grandson who came down at closing time. And here is the even more horrific part of the story. His son had to be called there because HE WAS and STILL IS the County CORONER! He had to work on his father, mother, and son!! He still is the County Coroner today.
It's hard to even imagine having to do that. It took a while, but they did catch the POS, had the trial, and he'll be in jail for the rest of his life.
