Is it safe to dry fire an sr22?

Help Support Ruger Forum:

I'm from the old school and never dry fire anything. Here's what I can tell you about my SR22. I was at the range firing and had a failure to feed and thinking it might be a failure to fire I gave it two more trigger squeezes before looking down at the loaded window indicator. After I got home and was cleaning I found a light firing pin imprint on the back of the barrel. Really pi$$-- me off.

^I would contact Ruger as the owners manual states plainly that is fine to dry fire the SR22.

I have dry fired my Ruger thousands of times in the past 6 months and have never seen any signs of imprinting or had any issues due to the practice.
