Older guy here ,my kids informed me of this shopping service. It’s really amazing! It’s a 3.99 service plus tip to have someone shop and deliver to your door! Supermarkets ,Costco and such. You shop online and your shopper heads to your chosen store. They are in contact with you on your smartphone, letting you know if what you ordered is available and if you want to substitute items. I’m sorry it’s weird but dang it works! They leave you goods at your door or will bring it in your house, your choice. So in 46 minutes I ordered from Aldi and had it on my stoop! It’s a blessing for housebound real older folks lol that can’t or don’t like to drive. Then again uber had me floored too!

The "pickers" run rampant at Wally World. I talked with one of them and she said
they has gone from thirty orders per day to one hundred twenty five per day, in
just the last month. - - With them you have a choice of picking it up at the store
(no charge) or paying them to deliver it (don't know how much they charge).

There are two Wally World stores near here (about five miles in either direction)
and the one in San Tan Village is so bad that I refuse to go in there. You go to any
aisle (middle of the afternoon) and you will see two or more pickers and one or
more stockers going, in that aisle. It is VERY difficult to shop there, so I don't.

For some people I can see where this would be very nice. For anyone that can do
their own shopping, it is a mess.

YMMV

My daughter with a 1 1/2 year old does it online with Walmart and drives to the store and picks it up. A real timesaver with a small kid.
I know Safeway has Pee Pod delivery service

As some know, I am not too mobile so the Walmart order and pickup is convenient. We order, drive there and I drive around the parking lot looking for a space near the front while Linda retrieves what we ordered then I pick her up at the door.

The only drawback I would have is that I like to select my own cuts of meats. And while I am still physically able to get around drive and such I enjoy the social interaction that Krogering has to offer me. Really, range time monthly in warm weather, phoning friends and church are my only real social outlets left. I thank God each and every day for my beloved Penny and she and I prefer to be shoulder-to-shoulder 99 percent of our lives, but talking with strangers and gaining fresh perspectives of the world is vital to staying engaged for me.
Harried parents, busy young couples, physically limited and recuperating people and folks with lives much fuller than mine can benefit from shopping services. I too will one day appreciate the availability of such options but for now I'll keep on seeing the world through the vegetable aisle. Don

I keep trying to get my in-laws to try these services, but they refuse. They are computer savvy, so that isn't the problem. They really shouldn't be driving too much. It makes us all a bit nervous.
Ironically, my father-in-law delivered groceries for years in his youth, for his dad's grocery store.

I think my only objection is that studies tend to show that so called gig job employees usually net less than minimum wage. The companies like Uber, GrubHub, instacart, etc are the ones making the money.
Store pickup, is a different thing, there it is regular store employees pulling the orders.
Now, that I think of it, I just had a local bakery in my sister's town deliver a half dozen cupcakes for her birthday. $30 for the cupcakes, $25 for delivery. I really hope they were good.

To the OP. Amazon has a similar service for groceries. For Prime members, they give you a two hour window for delivery. Their prices are very competitive with other grocery stores in the area. We've used it a couple times just to see how it works. Very convenient for the working class or the lazy class. (Sometimes we are both at our house...)
