I found that I do BETTER at losing weight by eliminating the carbohydrates which the body loves to store as fat and then reduce the quantity of eats. Fats are NOT a problem for weight.

Hi,
This is an ongoing discussion with some folks I know. The "well rounded" ones tend to eat a lot of carbs. The skinny ones tend to eat a lot of carbs, too. The difference between them seems to be more the level of activity which burns the calories taken in, plus extras as required. The nutritionists tell me carbs are the first "fuel" the body burns, and it can't become fat if it's been used up! So the low carb approach simply forces the body to start in on its reserves earlier, assuming there's enough demand (aka "activity") for fuel. Makes sense to me...
My favorite "diet" is one I like to call the David S... diet, after an old shooting buddy. His doc, concerned about Dave's heart, suggested there was about 50 lbs of "extra Dave" that could go away which the heart would appreciate. Dave's wife was on a PERPETUAL diet of one sort or another, and yo-yo'd like so many who take that approach, so Dave asked the doc what kind of diet he should try.
Doc told him to forget diets. He explained the yo-yo effect, and told Dave the body tends not to like changes in what it's used to getting, so all he had to do was continue eating exactly what he already did, just not nearly so much. If he had two plates of food at dinner, cut it to one. If he just had one, but it was piled up, don't pile it up so high... so Dave did just that.
A year later, he had lost 52 lbs, that proverbial "pound a week" they claim is a healthy level. In the same time, Mrs. Dave had probably lost 100! Difference was Dave kept his off, she got all hers back! For the umpteenth time.
Add walking into that, and some good things can happen, too. Years ago there were some ladies who lived a half mile down the street from me. They were neighbors, all in their early 30s, had kids, busy lives, the basic soccer Mom thing. And like so many soccer Moms, they were all rounding out some...
One of them started walking. Our street has a long incline, and she measured it out from her house to the top of the street and back was two miles almost exactly. She started walking it alone, at first "one lap a day" then graduating to two, and in just a few months all the excess "round" was gone and she was looking (and feeling!) great. One of her girlfriends, a little rounder to start with, joined her, and she, too, shaped up quite nicely. This inspired the third one, roundest of the bunch to start, to join "the club." It took her a little longer, but pretty soon these were the three best looking gals in their neighborhood! No diets, no gyms, just walking.
Calories in < calories out = weight loss
Calories in > calories out = weight gain.
It's hard to argue with that!
