Nita and I are lodged in a Holiday Inn Express. We lost electric power
Wednesday evening. And temperatures are approaching 100 degrees, so we fled the heat. 'Fraid Nita might get spoiled, no cooking and having a maid..............

Funny ~ she called our daughter in Texas this morning to report on our status. She began by the conversation by saying, "Guess where I am! I'm in a motel!"

I was frantically urging her to say she was with me.

Memphis Light Gas and Water says power restored by Saturday.

Sleep tight Bob, we except a full report sometime Saturday night on this outing at the HIExp. We had a big wind and storm he this afternoon but the EMC electric held its ground, power still on.....Lots of tree down throughout the county.

"I'm in a motel....!" At that point no additional information is forthcoming.
I went through power outages with either no heat in the winter to no AC in the summer. With my 'breathing' problems I need to have a relatively stable temp. We installed a VERY expensive all-house automatic switching generator. Since that time we have lost power a grand total of one time...for ten minutes. Figures.

Ya Scared the lightening away !!

NO FUN UNLESS you can make some one uncomfortable or ruin a freezer load of meat !!

Having a standby generator is kinda like having a pistol. You probably won't need it if you have it.

It is approaching noon Saturday and we are back at home. Sort of a mini vacation, really.

They, Holiday Inn, put out a pretty good breakfast; biscuit and milk gravy w/ sausage, cheese omelet, sausage patties, hotcakes with maple syrup, cold and hot cereals, pastries of several varieties, coffee, sweet milk, juices, doughnuts and fruit.

We drove out one day to Galaway to Slingshot Charlie's for catfish, purple hull peas and turnip greens. Chocolate chess pie and peach cobbler w/ice cream.

There was a group of sorority girls there from Illinois. They were to visit St. Jude Children's Hospital. Very nice and pleasant young ladies. Also a group of bikers from Missouri came in this morning , or rather late last night.

There was a bunch of real nice folks to talk with, and the staff was very on top of things.
