These "jugs" once contained maple syrup:



And these scraps of wood were drilled to hold my cylinders while cleaning goes on. They keep the cylinder from possibly rolling off the work bench:



And, here's my workbench:



I'm more than a little proud of my shop and workbench. I limped along for many years working/cleaning from any improvised work area.

Did you ever figure out anything to do with that red mallee wood I left with you when we had lunch at Catfish Charlie's. Thinking about that lunch makes me hungry for some catfish, are they still open after all the C-19 stuff ?

Yes, they are open. and recently visited by Nita and me. They, like many restaurants, had a tough time for awhile but now they are up and running. I told Nita that it seems like their clientele is getting older.

As to that wood, no it is still wrapped up in mah shop. When the pandemic hit I did not go out to the hardware stores so much, and sort of went into hibernation. Haven't really made any sawdust in awhile.

I sort of have a thing for wooden boxes. Went to several yard sales, antique shops and second hand stores. Also cigar stores. I found a variety of boxes and put them to use in my shop. And, at times, used them for gift boxes.

Bob you have inspired me, I've got 6 of those so called auxiliary cylinders, was wondering what type of vessel would be good to store them in. I've the the tools and such to make something similar, all I need is a wooden box. Thanks for sharing your creations, you could probably get many orders to make those.....I could be your first auxiliary cylinder holder customer.

I noticed your Hoppes is stored in a clear bottle. I've been told the volatile chemicals in Hoppes solvent will break down if not kept in a brown bottle. That's actually why many chemicals come in dark bottles. I have a big quart bottle of the original Hoppes which is also brown glass.

Bob, that's quite a bench! Thanks for sharing the photos. We've moved several times, and I have just sort of "made do" with temporary work areas. We are in a home where we plan to stay now, so a dedicated gun bench is on the horizon. Some good ideas here, I hope you don't mind if we copy some of them. I do have some wooden boxes that I have used to store things, but I now see how to customize them and organize things much better.
