Hey, it got up to a toasty 15* (a 30* increase from overnight temps)in north MO yesterday for a couple of hours. Son and Grandson were splitting wood in their T-shirts. Maybe up to 25-30* today so they may show up in gym shorts and crocs.

Last week it was so cold, that when my neighbor and I were talking the words came out and froze into ice cubes before we could hear them. We had to torch up a slash pile and throw them in so we could understand each other! :wink:

One of the Paul Bunyan stories I read as a kid said one winter it was so cold whenever anybody spoke the words froze in the air. When the spring thaw they all melted at once and there was an awful racket.
Here in Central NJ we have a "winter storm warning", predicting 4-6" on top of the 4-6" we already have.
There's the story about J.P. Morgan. Someone cornered him, asked:
"Mr. Morgan, can you give me some investment advice?"
J.P. Morgan leaned forward, and in a breathless whisper said:
"The market will continue to fluctuate!"

When i grew up in the 50's we had winters that were very cold and snowy and some that were very mild. We had summers that were very dry, hot and humid and some that were very comfortable and pleasant. Nothing has changed except people convincing others that the climate is out of control. Lol, the weather isn't any different just the reporting. Look at the claim they made 10 years ago and compared to what actually happened. Their models are so bad they doctored temperatures data to cover it up.
We are just fine. The cost of abandoning fossil fuels will be manifold. The lives lost from the Texas debacle will be repeated over and over going forward. Next they're going to ban fossil fuel furnaces and water heaters, its nuts. And all the costs are heaped on poor folks so rich virtue signalers can drive around in their subsidized Prius.

Yes It was recently reported by the same scientists that the clearing of the atmosphere this year due to less car pollution etc. WARMED the earth because the sun was shining on the earth more. But but..... Didn't they tell us the pollution held in all the heat and caused man made global warming? I noticed the data (FACTs) and the announcement really didn't get a lot of press even though it shot their previous theory out of the water. I also noticed that polar bears are not endangered any more as their numbers have been climbing for years. No one alive has ever seen this many polar bears!

The town in CO where I lived for 40 years had many an example. Winter of '82-'83
was the COLDEST winter on recorded history (average temperature for Longmont
was 17 degrees [for the entire month]). We lived on a corner lot and I had to shovel
the snow almost daily. - - - The next year was "average". Two years later the total
snow was about 35" (average for the year is 60). - - - We than had several that were
a bit below average. Then another winter it snowed over 60" in ONE MONTH.
Sorry, it's called WEATHER, and it changes. :D

There are many that claim you can save energy by turning down the thermostat at
night and then turning it back up in the morning. HORSE FEATHERS!!
In Longmont (CO) for 32 years I owned a duplex. My parents lived in one side and
I in the other. My father would quietly complain about how uncomfortable it was
when he had to use the little room in the middle of the night (my Mother, to "save
energy" would turn down the thermostat at night, then back up in the morning).
One day after Pa complained I asked my mother for her heating bill. I went and got
mine. $4 difference. I told her that I left my thermostat at the same setting, day or
night. She was skeptical. I reminded her that we were in identical "houses" and that
we were exposed to identical temperatures. She was still skeptical, after all "the TV"
told her she would save energy! I told her to try MY method and that if the difference
in her bill was above the $4, I would pay it. - - - She smiled and said she would.
Two days later I was over at their place for dinner and Pa commented on how much
more comfortable it was when he had to get up at night. - - - Come the next heating
bill, I brought mine over and we compared the cost.
You guessed it STILL FOUR DOLLARS difference!

A friend of mine was in the heating and air conditioning business for years. He said that if one thinks about it they would choose ONE temp and keep it there. If you turn it down at night then the entire structure cools off. Now when you turn it back up it takes more energy to heat the entire structure back up to the temp then to maintain it at the same temp 24/7.
Nope, this is the way it was long before I was born. There are movies of my mother and aunt as 10 y o’s playing in snow 10 inches deep in Atlanta, Ga back in the mid 1930’s.Jimbo357mag said:

It is not magic to figure out that you can save 'energy' by holding a house/building/swimming pool, at a lower temperature for a certain amount of time and then heating it back up. This happens and varies by the amount of time you hold it at any temperature and the difference in temperature. Would you like to keep a pool heated to 80 degrees for a month if you are only going to be using it on the weekends? ...or would it save you money to hold it at 72 degrees during the week? For those who question climate change just count the islands in the Chesapeake Bay that have dissapeared due to rising sea levels or come to the dock in Annapolis and speak to the watermen about it. Climate changes have been happening since this big rock formed.....a long time ago. Some just need a agenda and 'global warming' or 'climate change' fits the bill.
