If I disappear it's because of the problems with my computer. Bought it new almost 6 months ago and I'm spending an average of 2 to three hours on the phone trying to get it squared away. It's too complicated to try and explain but simply, every time their techie gets it working, AOL disappears and I get a corrupted files message. HP is supposed to pick it up the next time I have a problem and I'll be calling them shortly. Dunno when I'll disappear but that's why if I do.

Did you try turning it off and restarting it? :? :? Sorry, your post reminded me of the old first approach fix by Windows IT personnel back in the day.

...on the other hand, did you try THIS therapy:

Hang in there, I have a 1 yr old HP and the only problem I had is it did not work well on wireless so we hard wired to the modem and no more problems, just a thought for you to try, couldn't hurt, might help, but then I am computer stupid.

Is it the computer or AOL that's causing the problem?

I believe it's the computer. HP worked with it including three total restores. AOL downloaded their program 3 or 4 times on each session before it finally would work for a day or two. One each of the several tries that failed per session the message. "Unable to continue; files corrupted." Each of these sessions, two to three each per week plus one 7.5 hour non-stop session with Norton and still the computer is messed up. I can get on line through Internet Explorer but even that is working erratically. Finally located a phone number to what was supposed to be their corporate office and still got hooked with Sabu the elephant boy or one of his kin folk. Explained to Sabu including the case number finally assigned to me that if I had to make another call, it was to arrange to send that possessed POS back to where ever the hell it goes to be checked out for a hardware problem. Sabu decide to not allow this and I blew up. Cancelled the extended warranty that they refused to honor and said I wanted a total refund. I'm not a person who is looking to sue the pants of someone but I am considering a consultation with an attorney.
I'll be replacing this POS as soon as I get a few bills paid off so it'll probably be sometime after the first of next year.
