Hope all are safe. Stuff can be rebuilt, people not so easily. I know some folks in Galliano where Ida hit. Might be a while before anything is heard from that area.

I was watching live coverage and saw some of the destruction. Roofs being blown away and the complete destruction of some mobile homes, I mean right down to the ground. A mobile home is one place you do not want to be in during a hurricane. There is one death so far caused by a tree falling on a house. Let's hope that's the only one.

I’m curious. Do people still have storm shelters in their homes? When I hear of someone dying in their home during a storm I always wonder about that.

Here we have three worries tsunami, earthquake and fire. I ha about a 150’ vertical cliff face on the ocean side so that’s not an issue.

Fire, we build for it and clear brush. Recently I installed a sprinkler system on my roof.

Earthquake, all you can do is build with them in mind and secure stuff inside. I do have a single story home which seems to help.

As of right now the forecast is to miss Waverly, TN to the SE. Any rain for them will be too much! "Few Showers" is the forecast. Let's hope the storm track stays the way it's currently predicted.

That is GREAT news. They sure don't need any more trauma in that area.

Seeing all the pictures coming out and the people assessing the damage to homes and the power grid I am rather shocked. I hope they get lots of help.

I heard that Sleepy Joe is going to put his crack Afghan Airlift team on Hurricane Ida relief. What could go wrong?

I have a couple that are nurses for friends in Louisiana. Their home is intact, but no power. Trees, fences etc down, so a big clean up in the future. They do have a small generator. In my area of middle Tn we got 3.75 inches of rain. Anytime it rains here there is flash flooding somewhere. That is why I live on a ridge. All I have to worry about is lightning and tornados. lol

The heartwarming thing that I have seen on our local TV is the number of folks and businesses that are mobilizing to help. A nearby business has loaded a truck trailer with drinking water for those in need. And gifts of clothing and other necessities pour in.

Well the remnants came through central Maryland today...with a vengeance. Numerous tornadoes touched down in the Annapolis area where I grew up. I am now way north of that but had a couple touch down just to the south of me. 5.43" of rain so far today and it is still drizzling.

Lots of flash flooding around here, neighbor behind me just finished a new fence last weekend…hopefully he has some extra material yet because one of his trees crushed it.

Havre de Grace, located about five miles down the hill from me, at the mouth of the Susquehanna River and the head of the Chesapeake BAY had 4.5 feet storm surge. Lots of the town is underwater.
