I miss my Flat top

I had a .44 Magnum 50th Anniversary Flat top that I bought new and shot little. Had to sell it when the money got tight, but I am hoping that maybe after taxes I can find one again. I hope it will be as accurate as the one I had before. That gun with my handloads was a sweetheart.

In 1982 I got laid off and had to sell a Chevy pickup that was built on my birthday in my birth year. I had just started on restoring it, but all the toys and unesentials had to go. I hope you find another one and like it just as much as the old one.

CDNN has a 50th anniversary flattop 44 mag with a 6 1/2 barrel for $379.99. It is on page 33 of the 2010-6 catalog. I don't know if it is the same one as you had though. I would add a link to the page, but I don't know if it is ok here.

I fell your pain David LaPell.
I sold all my Old Model Blackhawks, including one OM .44 Flattop, and I missed them terribly for a couple of years!
Finally picked up a OM .44 Flattop Dec. 23 and I've been quite happy ever since.
Hope everything works out for you and you find your NM .44 Flattop.

Well, if the rest of the revolvers are as good as my .44 Lipsey Special .44 Special Flattop and my 50th Anniversary Flattop .44 Magnum, then you have a treat coming.

Mine both shoot well under an 1" at 25 yards with my standard loads (my own cast MiHec H&G #503 250 gr Keith ahead of 7.5 grs of Unique in the Special and in the .44 Magnum, we're talking 23.0 grs of H110 for practice and 24.0 grs for hunting).

I have been enamored of the looks of the original Flattops (my brother has an OM .357 Magnum) since they hit the market. However, I was not in a position to buy a .44 Magnum until the OM Flattops were out of production. The rising prices of these very collectible items kept ahead of my pocket book. I "settled" for an OM 'Super BlackHawk. It has been and still is a dandy. However, my yearning didn't stop.

I am now a happy camper...

David, I suspect we have all been there at one time or another. I know when my kids were growing up there were several "keepers" that were sold so that shoes, etc, etc could be purchased.

You should be able to find another 50th anniversary 44M. I was looking at some over on GunBroker a few nights ago.

I was debating on buying one and then decided to get the Ruger (Talon) SS 44SP flattop instead. It will go along good with the Lipsey blue version already in the pantry..
