I have a question about "Frames"

I think I saw on this forum that someone had a Blackhawk XR3-RED frame that someone painted(?) a brass color. Can this idea work? and can you use paint stripper to remove the black from the frame?
PS. I can't afford a real "brassie" frame right now but like the look.

There's steel grip frames and aluminum grip frames. Each has a finish that is removed by a bit different means. After that, just follow the proper painting procedure and you should be good to go.

I seem to remember a forum post where a fellow was having some frames brass plated but I never heard back any results from it. It would be interesting to see how it turned out.

I want to have an aluminum grip frame anodized, but I can't find anybody that will do it.

Are you saying that you can't find an anodizer or the one's you've contacted will not do it?

It does work and it looks pretty good too. The poster was me. I used VHT engine paint.

Just make sure you degrease it properly and feather any chips or edges. The one you see is aluminum. VHT Coatings can be baked on too.

I am saying that the ones that I have contacted, only do large jobs of hundreds of parts or more.

I've had an alum alloy frame brass anodized at a small local shop. Came out great and looks just like the brass anodized trgger guard on some model Bearcats. I didn't strip it 1st, the shop did. I have stripped them with oven cleaner (but they still need careful flat sanding before polishing) and polished them out. Did an entire lightweight below that had less then 50% original anodizing on alloy parts but left screws, sights, etc. blue:

I've had a steel grip frame brass plated and it looks as good as solid brass but much cheaper.
