Been thinking about what I'd want in the ultimate Single Six Carry Gun.
First of all I'd get the barrel bobbed to about 3 3/4" to 3 1/2" ,Keep the cartrige ejector and either use the excellent stock front sight or even cooler, have a rounded Peacemaker-like front sight made to mate up with the adjustable rear sight.
The grips are fine as they are, but a guy could swap on a Factory Birdshead gripframe too... I think I like the Navy sized gripframe best tho. Grip material needs to be Walnut.
The finish would need to be dark blued with factory style black trim.
Depending on the donor gun, I may have a .22 RF only or if i get lucky, have both cylinders. Having a 6 1/2" dual caliber revolover, I have grown quite fond of the .22WMR! It is a good hunting caliber and a viable self-defense caliber, exceeding the .32 Long Colt's power.
No I am not planning on using the 6 1/2" for the project, too much semential value.
What's your idea of a Single Six Dreamgun?

Do you mean something like this? Ruger Blackbird. Stainless though, not blue.

For a carry gun as in personal defense, or more as a field carry gun with possible application for defense if necessary?

I put a SS birdshead grip on my blued 4 5/8" Single-Six and it makes a very nice little field gun. You probably do want adjustable sights, especially if you want any POA/POI accuracy at a given distance. The Win 22Mag JHPs are pretty impressive out of these! However, it is a bit heavier with the SS frame and micarta grips.

Carry as in the sense of as a "Trail Gun", when fishing or hiking.
Unfortunatelly, some vermin are of the 2 legged variety and I think the .22 WMR is a good round for such a purpose. Surely more caoable than a short .32 or .38 Colt ctg.
What a pair of BEAUTIFULL Single Sixes! I even like the BirdHead grip! The barrels are the perfect length to pack all day!
Thankyou very much for posting those.

You might want to feel the weight before you decide to pack all day.

The 3" SP101 in 357 would make a better choice or a Uberti Stallion 22

I would even consider a single ten (still heavy). The reasoning being all the single tens I've seen so far have a tight cyl gap and those birdheads
for the most part have been sloppy. I chrono'd a sloppy Mag cyl -Vs- the single ten 22LR with stingers and not much difference.

Many folks will claim not much loss from a cyl gap, I say bunk.

Single Sixes also have tight cyl gaps! MIne is 18 years old adn tight as a frogs po-po!
I still like the additional punch the .22WMMR gives, that's why I want to build the revolver on a Convertable.
Thanks for the replys!
