I find Lexus ads irritating

I think the ads do just what they wanted them to do. Get attention which get people talking about their products. Just like this thread.

Of course they do. If they didn't, we wouldn't have these commercials to gripe about.

I hate Jaguar ads simply because of the way they pronounce Jaguar.

It's originally a car made in England and THAT is how they pronounce it IN England; That's how my ENglish friends pronounce it too.

JAG-U-AR

I don't know about you but in that link I'm hearing Jag-u-a. What happened to the "R"?

Hi,

How does the proper pronunciation of that famous German sports car hit you? Not that anyone here gives a rat's patootie about people who drive either make, but to let "Porsh" or "Jagwire" come from one's lips in certain circles will likely brand one silently an ignoramus. A correction of the pronunciation may be elicited, too, with varying degrees of courtesy. Imagine the commotion if someone called the favorite firearm in these parts a "Rouge-eh"! Yet I'd bet a poor unknowing Frenchman has butchered it a time or two. Oh, the horror! ;)

BTW, Jag-Wire, the way Americans love to say it, is a trademarked brand of bicycle cable products... just saying!

British cars are great looking, but terribly, terribly undependable.

MG's are gorgeous and completely unreliable.

A banker buddy of mine bought an Aston Martin that cost plus $125000.00 and it constantly failed him, until his disgust factor hit high enough for him to sell it...cheaply.

Another, bought a Mini-Cooper, same story...

Me, I used to buy Fords and/or Chevy's.

Now, Toyota all the way. Trucks/Cars and very dependable.

Another buddy, bought a BMW that was dependable, but came with very costly upkeep.

Japanese cars and trucks are the way to go.

I’m not hearing the “R” either...

Gotta to know what to listen for; The "R" is very soft in that example, Kind of an "aarh" sound , not the HARSH "ARRRE" sound of US english.

Oh come on...yeah, it's so soft that I can't hear it. I think you're only hearing it because you know it ends with an "R".

I was about to check one out when they came out with that "UGLY GRILL" I bought a new Subaru and love it.

Newer Lexus , the car with a grill that looks like a snowplow.

Hi,

Some time back in the '70s, a car came out with similar front end treatment. I don't recall what is was now, but still remember Road and Track magazine's description of the style: "Codfish eating a candy bar." A friend bought a new Camry when they first came out with the current aberration, and really enjoyed the description! Guess it's like having an ugly dog... it's still a good dog who loves you and you love it back just as much.
