I’ve had a 10/22 in one form or another since 1983, just bought an LCP, new, joined here to see if the problem I’m having is unique. Slide racks fine, but load a mag, hard to insert, slapping it works, but with mag inserted, the slide is near impossible to draw back, hate to send in a new gun, even before I’ve shot it… Going to try and shoot it this weekend, see if it smooths out, this is my first Ruger problem in 40 + years….

Hello from Missouri. That slide is probably hard to rack do to the mag spring not relaxed yet from being loaded. Try not loading fully to see if slide racks easier until after at least a couple boxes of ammo run thru it.

Also, it's always easier to rack slides when the bolt is locked open, or when LRHO is engaged, rather than closed on a full loaded mag.

Seems to me, makers are trying to keep up with the Jones to squeeze in an extra round in their mags. For instance, to overcome this issue in an AR, I will load 28 in the mag instead of 30. I have, also, run into this problem with the Sig P320, so, I load one less round in the mag.
