How well can you spell.

I got 20 correct. What is strange is that if I was asked to spell the words I probably couldn't spell 10%. I'm a HORRIBLE speller. But I have always had a talent for knowing a word that is misspelled. Don't ask me how that can be just something in my weeeeeeeeee little brain. Have done a lot of proof reading at work and home. :D

Looks like I am the dummy in the bunch. I got 19.

Hi,

You've got company, Frank! While I like to THINK I'm a good speller, there's a reason there's always a dictionary (usually TWO) within arm's reach here. 'Tis fun being left handed and dyslexic--well sometimes. I didn't see where it told me which ones were missed, but I'm pretty sure I know what at least two of them were, as they're problematic every time I see them!

But courtesy of my first grade teacher, who taught us to "see a rat", there's one problem word in there I wouldn't dare miss!

I was a Spelling Bee champ in school, so this has never been much of a problem for me. If I had just had to spell those words, I probably would have done just fine. But, I have to admit...when faced with choices, I wasn't quite so sure. A couple of those really had me second-guessing myself.

I did manage to get all 22 correct. Trickier than I thought it would be. To those who "only" got 19 or 20 correct...I sure wouldn't feel too bad if I were you. It would have been very easy for anyone to have missed more than a couple of those.

I think that what someone said here is the answer. We are used to seeing the words and we glance at them and they don't look right. Doesn't mean we can really spell that good.

Now is someone told you to spell that word, some of us would fail.

I was a spelling champ in my class from 5th through 7th grade. Interestingly, the same to classmates came 2nd and 3rd in all three years. My guess is good spelling came from lots of reading. I got nervous in this quiz. I think I had to guess once or twice. Spellchecking and autocorrecting, and less reading have all contributed to not knowing how to spell words as well. My daughter corrects me now. ;)
