Are you SURE that you are using your truck/auto/bicycle to its maximum load carrying ability?

Take a look at these photos and decide for yourself.

Just try that in the U.S. and see what happens. A chicken poop LEO once gave me a ticket for having four of us in my bugeye Austin Healy Sprite. :)

Fun.

I recall once upon a time, in a small town far, far away, a friend and I needed to haul a really long piece of lumber in my truck. As it turns out, the thing extended several feet beyond the tailgate and we had no red flag to attach to the protruding end. So we attempted to sneak down the back streets to avoid any problems.

Unfortunately, we had to cross a main street. Wouldn't you know, just as we zipped across the intersection a state trooper came along. He pulled in behind us and followed us for a couple of blocks, and finally turned on all the lights. We stopped. He approached, and pointed out the error of our ways. We pled for mercy based on ignorance and the fact that we were only a couple more blocks from our destination. He went back to his car, and we waited for the bad news. He was gone a long time, and finally returned, looking kinda sheepish. Seems he was unable to find the code for the specific violation we were guilty of, so he couldn't write the ticket properly. We got the "Don't do this again" warning and he drove off.

I think he just took pity on us.

Nope - I'm a rank amatuer!!!

More than once in the ROK I've had to pass a bicycle with among other loads, a live hog tied on the back.

But what about the Iraqi Navy?

The truck loaded with sugar cane brought back memories. When I was a kid, my great-uncle had a fleet of WWII surplus trucks he used for hauling sugar cane to the processing plant. He used to load them big and high like that, and they made the trip in a convoy. The trip from the field to the plant was only about 10 miles, so they overloaded the trucks and drove them very slowly. It made car drivers angry, because the trucks were too wide to pass in those narrow country roads, and passing a row of half a dozen overloaded trucks was risky.
