20-25 years ago, there was a run of these blue/green laminate stock M77's in .270 and .30-06. Not remembering any other calibers. certainly not common.
Ditto what ENU says. These rifles were produced in the 771- to 772- prefix around 1989-1990. Many variations are reported including checkered/non-checkered, grip cap/no grip cap, sights/no sights and even a few Lightweight RL/RLS rifles. About all the calibers were made except the 458.
Nobody knows how many were made, but they seldom come up for sale.
The first samples for test of the public, occurred at the NRA Annual meetings, Phoenix, May of '83. I was there, displayed my RSSE in the RCA display and held each of those laminated green firearms. Fun memories! 8)
I have seen a few on the various auction sites over the last few years that have brought maybe a $50 to $100 premium over a standard 77. I have also seen a handful of checkered ones over the years as well. If i remember...they stopped checkering because the glues in the laminates were not suited for the checkering process but later moved to more of an epoxy for the glues which made checkering laminated wood easier.
The eariest examples also were without pistol grip cap.
These early green "Z" laminate rifles are pretty rare with checkering and/or without grip grip cap. But...not enough collectors out there looking for them to create the supply and demand issues of higher prices...that coupled with model people have forgotten about that 1980's introduction.
