A Minnesota woman was sentenced to a 180-day jail term after fatally shooting her boyfriend during a botched YouTube stunt.

Monalisa Perez has pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. As part of her sentence, Perez is banned for life from owning firearms or collecting payments for her story.

Last year, Perez was charged after accidentally shooting her boyfriend, 22-year-old Pedro Ruiz III. According to the criminal complaint, the two were shooting a YouTube video where Perez shot at a book Ruiz held in front of his chest, believing the book would stop the bullet.

Unfortunately, the prank went very wrong, and the bullet went through the book and into Ruiz's chest, killing him before he could be air-lifted for medical treatment

That is dumb alright, he couldn't be absolutely sure she would even hit the book.

Obviously they never considered a test prior to the actual event. Darwin award finalist for sure.
From what I read before they did a test shoot but believe that they used the same book for the actual shot, first one was stopped but not the second one.

How can something so funny . . . .
be so true?

:D

Plus, it took two brains to come up with that decision. But it is easy to make fun of such a really bad decision. Worse is the fact that two lives were destroyed in a sense. Even more if you count their families. Really stupid but really sad. Fortunately none of the stupid things I did in my youth (fueled by alcohol usually) caused harm to someone else.

Thanks for the text Dan. I hate to click on links of liberal slanted websites.

Was a 50 caliber Desert Eagle, and yes, as I recall the decedent did do a "practice" shot into the same book.

Maybe she hit the same place twice. How much of a coincidence would that be?
And I wouldn't even do that if he was holding Tolstoy's "War & Peace"

Hope they didn't reproduce together.

Too late!

From the video: “The mother of a toddler, and pregnant with their second child...”

And another generation of stupid enters the world..

Remember folks, the minute you build something idiot proof, there will always be someone breeding a better idiot..

Stop being so hard on these poor, poor lambs, after all it was the guns fault don't you know

Sometimes it's hard to believe the level of stupidity that can be found among us
