How do you remove a scratch from a stainless steal barrel?

It all depends on which stainless finish. Am I wrong in thinking some of the Mini's came with the medium gray "Hawkeye" finish? If so, and I could not live with the sctatch, I'd bead blast the whole barrelled action. If it has Rugers standard (for many years) 400 grit finish, I would buff the scratch out with, you guessed it, 400 grit sand paper. I bead blast my stainless rifles to cut down on the reflection, so if a bead blasted finish is scratched, you would have to bead blast the scratched area (or all to match) of the finish.

Thanks guys. This was for a buddy of mine and he has been able to remove the minor scratch. I have not seen it yet, but he is very happy with it.
Thanks again

Pardon my disagreeing. I don't buff out scratches. They tell stories after a while. Perfection can be pretty dull sometimes.
