How 'bout them Broncos
http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2016/02/07/broncos-d-dominates-panthers-in-24-10-super-bowl-win.html

Kinda took the dance and showboat out of the Newton. Bet Newton will be sore tomorrow. :=) Denver's number 58 bought Newton to a running instant stop, standup, and body slam.

I didn't have a particular favorite, I just hoped it would be a good game.
I thought it turned out to be one of the worst Super bowl games of all time.
Manning played like the old man he is and Newton played like a rookie. The
most valuable player should have been Demarcus Ware. He dominated the Panthers.
The Game was lousy: a missed field goal, full of mistakes, taunting, and false starts. Neither team could run nor pass. The Officials made several bad calls. The playing field was terrible.

I thought somebody had slipped the Cincinnati Bengals in there.

For the good of all, the old man HAD to get a 2nd trophy & capture the most post wins at 200 and blah, blah, blah.................

It was to be - as is ended - & nothing was going to change the outcome

The new face Cam will prevail next year as alloted to him for that time

Entertainment is all it is nowadays, as the WWF was/is

His post game press conference will now be his legacy.

Yeah ... It was pretty pitiful ... Not a good showing at all.

Funny how the commentators tried to spin it ...

Agreed ... The game really was bad ... Not enjoyable in the least.

They should have passed on even selecting an MVP ... Because there was none ... Except maybe the Bronco defense.

While I respect Newton's skill as a young/new NFL quarterback, I've always found his pride and behavior to be very disgusting.

Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction,
a haughty spirit before a fall.

Throughout the season, every time I saw a film clip of his antics, this scripture came to mid, and I always wondered how long it would take. It took longer than I had anticipated, but when it came, the sudden stop hurt him badly. Hopefully for his sake, and that of the NFL viewing audience, he will learn a lesson from today's events.

Superman has fallen to "Pooperman".

Sorry guys, I have to disagree with it being one of the worse games due to the lack of offensive highlights. Maybe it is because I always played on the defensive side of the ball but the fact that the best defense in this years NFL basically stuffed, roughed and rolled the hotshot Cam show made a defensive backs old face smile. There is no doubt Newton is a talented player but talent is relative to the talent of your opponent in many cases. He met a group of just as talented defensive players tonight and came up on the short end of the stick. I was glad to see Manning get the win and I hope he is smart and calls it good but there was no doubt he was simply trying to not turn the ball over and to keep the best Bronco players on the field where they could wreak havoc. JMHO of course! :D

It did seem he was about to go into a tantrum.
Kind of a . . . . . .

Amen brother! Here was a case of two really excellent defenses dominating the game. The offenses were generally ineffective because both defenses played so well. This game was decided in the trenches by the lines and linebackers.

I agree with Robb, most games don't have much defense, it's offense against offense. This was a well played game with the best defensive team of the year. I, too was glad to see Peyton finish (I hope) with a win. He's contributed a lot to the sport and the team. I typically like the higher scoring games but this was pretty well thought out. Broncos are extremely fast, as was mentioned, far better than Carolina was expecting and had competed with. Congratulations Broncos. I haven't followed football for several years but I've always appreciated the team due to where I grew up. It was that or Dallas, what can I say???

I just watched the post game interview and was very disappointed in the way Newton represented himself. I'm sure it's soul crushing to have just lost a Superbowl, and then be subjected to detailed questions about that loss, but the overall impression I got from watching and listening to him was not good.

Had he been humble and given even a slight bit of praise to the other team, or a hint of respect to Manning (no matter if he meant it or not) I would have been impressed by that. I was also surprised he never really mentioned his teammates, or gave a hint of real regret for the loss they suffered as well. I got the impression that in his mind, he was the only one defeated, and it was mostly about him all along. I detected that maybe even that he had contempt for them for the loss.

I've learned in life you learn far more about a person in how they deal with defeat than you do in victory. We all are defeated at times, that's life. I saw it as a lack of professionalism, and a complete disregard for the fact he is a representative for the NFL at all times as a player. If nothing else a quick check of his bank account should have been enough for him to muster up even a token polite show of sportsmanship.

I once was a pretty serious fan, but have not followed football in many years, but I always appreciated a good defense and what they can do, especially in big games.

I am glad to hear Manning got a win as he was and is one of the great quarterbacks. I have no problem with your description of his play. His job was to win the game, not to personally make big plays to please the fans. If he is good enough, and smart enough to keep his best players in position to win, he is doing his job. Age 40 is getting up there for any athlete but it will be difficult to walk away with a new super bowl ring on his finger.

No doubt he is no longer the type of quarterback that can carry a team to a winning season on his arm and big plays like he could in his youth. However if he has a good enough team he is the type of quarterback that can guide them to a winning season and that may be all this Denver team needs. Not many with the kind of experience and know how to do that. So I don't look for a change unless Denver starts out with several losses next season.

I can't comment much because I was at work but it sounded like a good game. Lots of good defense, a great turnover for a Broncos TD. Seems like Newton got flustered. Kinda like listening to old baseball games. That is what I had. Maybe listen to it instead of watching, I thought it was pretty good. Didn't get to listen to any of the interviews so can't comment. IMO, if you keep getting pounded by Ware you are going to get a little skittish. I like D'ware because he was a great Dallas Cowboy. If a team can win with defense they are miles ahead of any other team. If you can't score then you are done, fairly obvious I think.

The Panthers had there smug attitude after making the Cards look so bad 2 wks. ago. They thought they where so great, well defense wins games. They got sent back down to earth. Glad, I don't usually have a problem w/ good teams , but running up scores against the cards & showing off ,I hate. Manning didn't do anything, & needs to retire a winner. One of the worst games because of the lack of offense. Very bad commercials, very bad half time as usual. Too much hype, leads to disappointment.

I am not a "big" football fan although I do watch some of the Bronco games through the season. I am baseball fan and do try to listen to the Rockies on the radio, and watch some games every chance I get.

Both are a kids game played by grown men who make a fortune doing it and millions of fans enjoy both. So I am happy with both.

I thought the game Sunday was a good match between the defense strategy used by the managers and coaches of each team, using their strong defensive team players. I believe both team's manager realized that their defense strategy would be the test of the game. To me, there was no doubt that both offense teams played their best and were pretty evenly matched, both playing against better defense. I give credit to the defensive teams and their defense coaches for using their defense players to the best of their ability.

I have not watched every Super Bowl but I though this one was interesting as any as I watched the managing strategy of each team.

This.

But when it came right down to it, Manning made plays when he had to and Cam Newton . . . didn't. And stormed out of the postgame press conference in an adolescent huff. *shrug*

Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships.

Newton behaved like a spoiled little kid who had just been told to go sit in the corner. One of the media (don 't remember which one) said that he ought to learn to lose with grace.... I'm sure what he really meant was that Newton was a jackass, but he had to be polite about it.

Standing joke around Green Bay concerning Manning's retirement.... he ought to consult Brett Favre; after all, Brett is pretty good at it - he retired three times.

To me the game was a repeat of the Patriots game with Newton looking just like Brady.
Defense wins Championships !!! Just look what happened to the Broncos at Seattle... they got stomped because of no Defense. Elway went out and got the best Defensive players he could find and Wade molded them into the #1 Defense in the league.

For the causal fans it was most likely a boring game. I enjoy defense as well and thought it was enjoyable from that perspective. Von Miller was absolutely the MVP. 2 strip sacks resulting in over half your teams points. Not to mention the havoc he wreaked against New England. He had a phenomenal post season. Spencer's D was fun to watch. Glad to see Peyton go out on top, too. There is no way he doesn't retire.
