How big is too big?

A disaster just looking for a place to happen??? 
So how many staff are needed to provide all the personal attention the cruise line tout?

Too big? A boat that holds more than six people is too big. I cannot imagine how much you'd have to pay me to go on a cruise. Can't think of anything worse for a vacation. I'll stay home and play golf.
Good thing there are no icebergs in the Caribbean .......we would be subjected to sitting with our Wives through another very long boring movie.

Cruise ships are just big floating petri dishes , and that is a big one.
I honestly can't believe it doesn't flip over. It looks to be extremely top-heavy.
I totally agree, but then look at an aircraft carrier. They too are HUGE and lots of 'above water' weight and then steam on.
Wonder what she draws.
For me, getting on that boat would be like going to the city, I don't go to cities.
I wonder what she draws also, will ports of call have to do some dredging just to have it be able to dock to load/unload?
Given all the tropical storms and even hurricanes that sweep into the Caribbean, I wonder how it handles bad weather. I bet it stays close to ports even when sailing.
I can't wait to get that ship booked.

I watched the video and it is pretty amazing we can actually build something like that... only more amazing that people will actually pay to ride on it... but I think that might just be me.... the very last shot of the rear of the boat is kind of interesting... not really in focus... but still looks like something out of one of those Disney animation movies...

Every time I see one of those cruise ships two thoughts come to mind. How much water does she draw and how much ballast does it take to keep her from capsizing?

Oh no, I’ve always said a cruise is for when I can’t hunt the mountains any longer. My bar bill has been dwindling for a while now, it’s at the point I can probably afford a cruise.I can't wait to get that ship booked.

I like cruises but I don't want most of the crap they offer today. Water slides? Go cart tracks? Food and jazz are enough for me,.
It must have literally tons of ballast.
Aircraft carriers have to go through sea trials to make sure they are sea worthy.
When the Gerald R. Ford made a hard to port or hard to starboard at full speed, it leaned a lot. I forget how many degrees but it was substantial.
Perhaps some of you retired navy squids can comment on this.

I was onboard CVN73 for Sea Trials (Plankowner/Original Weaps Dept Crew/RSO)....you aint kidding...when we saw the videos after she looked like she was going to roll....felt like it also.
I was onboard CV64 (VF21 Ordnance) and she went through some severe storms and heavy seas enroute from IO to Australia.....there's no way a fun ship is making it through that stuff.
My Wife likes to go on those things.....not me. I tell her if I can't load bombs or man a 50CAL mount it isn't fun......
Now, I have been looking at the cruises that run up the Mississippi River....looks interesting, and I don't see videos of those being turned into a Wal Mart/Ghetto dweller type fiasco.......
A cattle carrier. I would have zero interest for cruising on it.
I'm 60, and generally don't like people, BUT Cruising is awesome.
Get the old farts cruise. Panama Canal, Alaska, Caribbean, Columbia River. No kids, no slides, no go carts.
Although if you weren't such old turds, the young folks can make it fun
History lessons about every port, amazing food, and if you are young enough to mess up the
sheets in the afternoon, the bed will be made with a chocolate on both pillows by happy hour
Sounds miserable.

I have no problem cruising- very cool. I have a problem with completely impersonal service, cattle call scheduling, overcrowded facilities, etc. This ship will attract the novelty crowd- but only once.I'm 60, and generally don't like people, BUT Cruising is awesome.

I also have no desire to be on a big boat with too many people crowded together. I know they’re probably more spacious than I’m imagining, and I know the food can be outstanding with all the specialty dining rooms and highly trained chefs. When I was a young whippersnapper, my family came back from overseas on the SS United States. The best thing I remember about the trip is all the different and interesting foods that were offered. I wouldn’t mind going on one of the American river cruises or one of those Viking long boats in Europe, that to me would be a different kind of environment.
I would rather have my nads squeezed in a vice before I would get on that boat.
