Hornady Superformance?

I guess I'm not too clear on the concept of this factory ammo. Higher velocity with no increase in pressure or barrel erosion? How can that be? There's got to be a trade off somewhere. The reason I'm asking is that it seems to be the most readily available ammo for my .257 Roberts (I just don't have a place in my tiny house for a reloading set-up), and concerned if a steady diet might adversely affect the longevity of my M77.

Why not contact Hornady directly? Ask THEM about your concerns etc. Get their information.

Hornady may know, but hodgdon makes the powder , I have a pound of it and I've tried it in 30 ought 6 with good success, but there is very little reloading information on this particular powder, so it does not get used much, it is supposed to be a high velocity low pressure powder, I believe that is a blend.

Unless you expect to burn thousands of rounds of this ammo in your 257, I'd say it's a non-issue. I shot hundreds of rounds of similar "high performance" handloads through my 257 R M98 Mauser w/o any problems. My rifle doesn't like the hopped up factory loads but is well beyond good with the right bullet/load combination.
