Homemade Guns that will make you Cry.

When I was a kid those pipe shotguns and the bolt-striker .22 zips were actually pretty common street weapons. The zips were probably more dangerous to the shooter. Kind of a roulette not if but when the barrel would blow. The pipe shotguns were sturdy enough if ungainly, and you could get plans via the mail from the backs of magazines.
Some of the .22 zip guns used a piece of car antenna for the barrel. I would use schedule 80 pipe for a shotgun but schedule 40 would work. I have seen some nicely made trombone shotguns where you would slam the barrel section back against the breech which had a fixed firing pin. The Liberator pistol from WW2 was a .45ACP zip gun that was dropped in large quantities to resistance groups in both theaters of war. It's purpose was to shoot someone that had a better weapon and then arm yourself with the weapon that you took from the guy you shot.
