Reading the business section, noticed this:

Last week The Dollar Tree anounced plans to purchase Family Dollar stores. Today, Dollar General said "not so fast, we want to bid, too." Now all three of these strores are sort of replacement for the old variety stores, or five-and-ten cent stores. They sell odds and ends, household necessities, and stuff. And they sell these items for $1.00 or less.


Dollar General's bid is $8.95 billion!

Only one of those three still stick to the everything for a dollar thing. My Mom-n-law knows where every one of those places within 100 miles are. Sigh.

Latest report I heard was Wal-Mart wanted to throw their hat in the ring and possibly make an offer.

As long as they keep expanding and building stores I'm happy. Two of the three are clients locally.

I don't see much for a $1 or less at the local Dollar General...more like the Three Dollar General Plus.
