Hickok45 & Thompson Submachine Gun

Well let me told you a story about Mr. Stupid and HE BE ME :(
My good fried and neighbor had several class 3 weapons and one of them was a 1927 Thompson. Not just a 1927 but what was called the FBI package. Which consisted of a case the gun fit in when the stock was removed along with a location for the drum and 2-3 stick mags. A perfect 1927. After he died I bought some of his guns from the Widow. He also gave me and my Son quite a few before he died.
I was offered the Thompson for $3500 along with a GI case of stick mags. Oh yea she was going to give me a M2 carbine also. This was in 2001.
Did I take her up on a very generous offer? NO and why you ask not a money problem it is because I'm the STOOOOOOOOOPIDIST SOB on the planet. :( :( :(
After watching the video it proves it once again to be true

Looked like this one

Jim, You deserve a kick in the pants.

In San Diego boot camp (1961) we spent all of just one day on the firing range. It was done with Garand rifles in only in the prone position. The instructor did fire a Thompson but we miserable recruits could only watch and wish. During my active duty, the only firearm I ever carried was a 1911 Colt while on in port gangway duty. That was with absolutely zero official training with that legendary firearm.

Later in life, one of my Technicians had served as a UTD man in WWII. Having used them in close encounters against the Japanese, he swore by that firearm.

Well Jim, I will withold judgement for now. Did she have all the correct BATFE paperwork to be able to legally transfer it to you? If yes, then you did make a bit of a mistake. If no, then you did good by not getting it as it and the M2 would have been illegal firearms and in 2001 there was no way, just like today, to make them legal. After the grace period from GCA 86, those not registered were deemed illegal.

Yes everything was legal. At the time my neighbor got these class 3s he was a Police Commissioner. They were sold to a cop

Now that you know the facts. Now you can say how stoooooooooopid I was.
I still to this day kick myself.
