Micro Compact 9mm Comparison

Thanks for posting. I had been hoping for a comparison of all the choices. The interesting thing is I believe Taurus & Sccy are also coming out with pistols that fit in the micro 9mm 10 round category. I think the Taurus has been released. I don't think the Sccy has yet but I could be wrong. Hopefully if things normalize somewhat there should be some really nice 10 round 9mm micro pistols at very reasonable prices available sometime in the near future.

Taurus has had a version for a few years now, the G2C…and the new G3C…and now the GX4

KelTec had a P-11, which I bought in 1998, and still have. KT discontinued it. A crying shame! It was the reason I never bought a Ruger LC-9 or the EC 9
gramps

If I didn't already have a Glock 26 and my EDC Ruger LC9s I would consider buying the new Ruger Max9 but I'm good with what I have. The 8 round capacity of the LC9s is fine for me since sometimes I carry only 5 rounds when I slip the S&W 642 into my pocket instead.

Hickok 45 seemed to have a harder time holding on to the MAX-9 than the others, but most of the others also had been modified with aftermarket sticky and/or textured grip panels. Wonder if that might have made a difference in MAX-9's shootability?

I can personally vouch for the Taurus G2C being easier to shoot than the Glock G43X. The G2C is a 12 shooter or 14 with the +2 magazine. The trigger isn't match grade but it's controllable and doesn't stage up much.

And I can tell you the Taurus versions will run with anything. They are small enough to conceal, but enough to hang onto and have never even heard of one that didn't go bang. Not to mention they are half or less $ than the others. Would I like to have a Six 365? YES. But I can buy 2 of the Taurus versions for that price. I've carried for years, and with a LOT of different guns, but I'm as happy with the Taurus as I've been with anything. 12+1 should get you out of trouble 99.9 % of the time.

I had a PT-111 G2 (the precursor of the G2C etc.). I sold it because of my dislike for the trigger. It did work & I would not consider myself unarmed with one but I didn't like it. They are also larger than the micro's being reviewed. The GX4 that is coming out is supposed to have a different (better?) trigger. I haven't seen or handled one. Might be interesting to check it out.

Here is a video of the Taurus I was referencing. I am finding myself interested. I got an E-mail advertising them for $300. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxGzMxD1i60

↑ And Hickok45 also did a shorter winded than usual review on the new Taurus. It looks like a winner especially if you put the wider backstrap on it because the grip doesn't look much bigger than the SIG P365. Hickok link below.

After lots of thought and shooting experience with some of the offerings, I made a choice.
I have been looking for a micro compact for a couple of years.
My choice is the Springfield Armory Hellcat OSP. I like it a lot The rail, OSP feature and higher magazine capacity were some prime factors.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked the Shield too, but mag capacity vs size caused me to choose the Hellcat. Several good offerings in this bunch.

Thanks Cholo, I hadn't seen that one. Interesting that he & Sootch had different perceptions, experience with the pistol. Now I'm wondering how consistent their manufacturing is.

Diamondback db-9 , looks and works like a baby Glock. Pretty sure it’s the smallest 9 out there. Handles +p I haven’t tried them. Standard factory loads so far and goes bang every time so far. 6+1
