Here's what my No. 1 can do!

This is two loads for my .25/06 No. 1 B. They are the same charge and bullet, but different brass. Its a 90 grain Barnes Solid bullet propelled by Reloder 22 powder and ignited by a Rem 9 1/2 primer. The group to the lower right is with R-P (Remington) brass and the group to the upper left is F-C (Federal). As you can see, it does show a slight preference for the F-C brass. Too bad I can't buy it as a seperate component like the R-P or Win brass. I shot both groups about an hour and half ago after our nightly thunderstorm. It was calm with the sun behind me.

Nice Matt! Did that twice with my No.1 25-06...less than 1/2 inch at 100 for a 5 shot group. That was with Sierra 90 gr hp's and Hornady 75 gr Vmax's. They will shoot if you spend the time finding a load.

My other .25/06s don't like the 75s (Hornady V Max and Sierra HP) at all, 3"+ groups are the best. I haven't shot the Sierra 90s, I bought the Barnes because I wanted to test a solid bullet for Mountain Lion and Coyotes. These bullets don't even leave a grease ring on the paper.

I wanted to shoot 5 shot groups, but one of the primers fell out of my FC loads, and I shot one R-P load at 25 yards just to make sure I wasn't going to be significantly off from the 120s I was shooting earlier.

Excellent ! what it's all about.I would be worried about a primer falling out.I had a loose primer one time and it damage the face of the bolt.the rifle shot fine after that but just put a mark on the bolt face. I'm sure your all right so far.

Matt, I'm curious, are you using a coating such as moly on your other bullets? I wouldn't think normally there would be grease on a jacketed bullet.

Every other bullet I've ever used has left a noticeable grease ring on the paper. I got up to the target and I was suprised to see that the paper was clean around the holes. I attribute it to the spitzer spire point and being a bronze bullet.

As far as the loose primer, thats the first one I've encountered on this brass, which has about 6 firings on it. The other rounds held the primers just fine. With the No. 1 its pretty hard to inspect the bolt face without taking the gun apart. Sometimes the breech block sliding up has scratched the surface of the primer, but I think this is normal.

I've only used a few coated bullets, but that was in my .280 with Barnes XLCs, I won't do that again, its messy stuff. They do leave a noticeable blue grease ring on the paper. Other bullets leave a grease ring from the exposed lead tip.
