Help me XR3-RED or XR3 grip frames. Old Model Ejector housing

I just got my first 3 screw and both the grip frame and the ejector rod housing are very bad off.

Hopefully someone here has some spares in decent or good condition they could sell me. Please send me a message if you have something!

What model/serial are you looking for grips on? Under the grip panels the grip frame will have the model molded into it as to if it's the XR3 or the RED. RED's are going to be easier to find as well as less money.

I much prefer the Colt-like grip myself. Swapping an XR3 onto my OM 357-BH was one of the first things that I did to it. A few years later, I had the gun nickle plated, and about 10 years after that, substituted a (NM) Stainless ejector rod housing which I polished to mimic the nickle. Later on came the NM stainless (collared) base pin which I modified, polished, and installed during an overhaul....I figure that I'll have it like I want it purty-soon....A new set of grips ought to about do it..LOL.

I'm not so sure about the photo in their ad...I can't recall when Ruger started using a roll pin to locate the grip panels but every OM that I've ever had used a solid pin....As for an ERH, you can substitute either an Aluminum or steel housing from a New Model. Might take a bit of fitting but that's not hard to do......hope this helps.

$149 for a late Old Model grip frame is cheaper than I would expect from a retailer. Ejector rod housings are common on eBay just gotta make sure you're getting the correct parts. The grips will most likely be best coming from a member here.
 
To the OP: the ejector rod housing you have uses the stud on the barrel, from the picture you posted. The current production of ejector rod houses don't use the stud, rather screw directly into the barrel. I don't know if the current housings can be made to work with your set up. Maybe someone here with experience can chime in!
