I have not seen the new ones yet but have been told they are doing away with the matte finishes in both the blued and ss models. Other than that , I doubt anything else has been changed besides possibly some caliber offerings.
As well as going from matte to satin polish, when you get to the African and Alaskan models, the front swivel has been moved from the forearm to the barrel.

That's interesting that Ruger is doing this several years after the Hawkeye was introduced. Ruger made the same mistake with their Magnum action and Express M77 MarkII's, but they moved the stud from the forearm to the barrel almost immediately on those. The writers were complaining that the stud was getting into your hand on recoil.

Actually, the barrel mounted swivel is not a 100% net gain.
My .375 H&H Mag SAKO has the front swivel on the stock and that mounting allows use of the sling for shooting. In 27 years of shooting and hunting with it, and over 2,000 rounds thru it, I have never had trouble with front swivel bite.
