Because we have Mexican Americans here as well a other nationalities. It is also not their, the Mexicans, Independence Day, though many uninformed seem to believe that it is. No different than celebrating St Patrick's Day, or St Valentine Day, or Yom Kippur. Might want to read about it before making unfounded statements. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_Mayobaronvoncatania said:6gun said:I aint Mexican and it aint a American holiday so it means nothing to me, they don't celebrate the 4th of July in Mexico do they. :?
Exactly! Why are we celebrating a foreign holiday here in the u.s.? I was reading of students being sent home on this "holiday" for wearing an American Flag shirt, they were told it is offending the Mexican students!!
Sure they do. It comes after the third of July.6gun said:I aint Mexican and it aint a American holiday so it means nothing to me, they don't celebrate the 4th of July in Mexico do they. :?

Who gives a flying frick who celebrates Cinco de Mayo or Yom Kippur or any other day? One can partake or not. Who fricking cares?
Every day of life should be a celebration, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion, country of origin or general beliefs.
Seems some folks aren't happy unless they're unhappy. Or bitter...
