Hammer retianing pin

Has anyone installed a set of the Ruger thumb rest grips on their MK III? If so have you had a problem with the hammer retaining pin backing out? Seems the cutout on the left grip, I acquired from Ruger, has the cutout for the pin that is too deep and allows the pin to back out and when this happens the pistol totally 'locks up'. There is a safety issue here in that when the lockup occurs if a round is in battery the bolt cannot be retracted to clear it. I have written to Ruger and am awaiting their reply but thought I would ask if anyone else has had this problem.

Can you maybe just fill the void with some wood putty, or even tape, or something like that, to keep the pin in place?

After the pin 'popped out' twice I figured out what the problem was and placed a small piece of cork in the grip cutout. The point is Ruger is selling a product, the thumb rest grips, that could be a safety issue as the bolt cannot be opened once the pin disengages from the right side of the frame.

JB Weld or RTV in the openning will cure the problem. Your right that is bad for business to cut that hole so deep.

yep, as said above, in your case need to "fill the void" again, too quick to jump to marketing a product, with little of NO thought given as to the consequences...the grip companies used to provide a 'filler' strip to go in the opening when used with a non hold open setup ,ala RSTs/MK I's.......
many guns, the grip panels keep the pivot pins in place, and not be able to drift over one way or the other.
