Hawkeye
During WW II there were many artillery shells fired and aerial bombs dropped that had delay fuses. These fuses could be set to detonate up to several hours after impact. Sort of reminds me of Gus's Fried Chicken.
Originally Maggie's Cafe, up on Hwy. 70 in Mason, Tennessee, close to the Hatchie Wildlife Management Area. Handy place for hunters and fishermen to catch a quick lunch. After Maggie's death, her son-in-law took over the business, hence it is now Gus's Fried Chicken, though I believe Gus himself has actually sold the business.
I remember a lady being interviewed on TV in which she told of driving from Memphis to Nashville one time. She stopped at Gus's for a box of chicken to eat along the way. (Most uncivilized, by the way. To eat while driving.) She declined any beverage, and went on her way. Up the road a piece, the chicken spices kicked in, and she said she felt her throat was on fire, and could not wait to get to a water fountain.
I do believe Tennessee State Troopers would accept that as a reasonable excuse for speeding.
