Grip Medallion types?

I ordered some medallions from Ruger for the 22/45 and put them in some aftermarket grip on my P85.

I was wanting to do this again but was wondering what other designs are out there.

Ruger in Prescott said the one I ordered is all they have to offer but the Southport office would have revolver style.

Please post pics and or offer up comments.

I think they look sweet on the grips. Did you use a router bit to cut the recess? I have a bit with two flutes that I've been thinking about doing the same with but haven't got around to it yet. I have three sets of Uncle Mike's in the package but can't bring myself to put them under the knife. Regarding the designs, there are a few out there but the old model medallions will cost considerably more. I believe the new medallions have the "S" dropped.

On the back of the mikes there is a hole from the mold, I just screwed in a old panel screw from my drawer that had a washer on it that was the same size as the medallion. Then I cut very carefully around the washer with a new exacto blade. Took the screw out. Followed up with a small wood chisel. and back again with the exacto after removing the very pointed tip of the blade. Went easy and test fit the medallion a few time before I got it just right.

The neet thing about the mikes is since they are rubber you can go smaller and the rubber will "hold" the medallion for you.

Since you have 3 sets I would go for it. Worst case you have 2 sets and another set to mail to me. haha.

I thought the red would be a bit much so I only ordered one set but now that I see them installed I thiink I like the red better than the black.

The only other style is like the old pre 1968 medallions called black eagles (they are actually blackhawks) which come on the 50th anniversary 357 and 44 mag and the current flat top 44 spls. The new "Sturmless" medallions are not on the list, so there are now ten medallion variations for the Blackhawks. I'm still looking for someone with some camera skills to help me take some good pictures. I would really like to get one picture with all ten medallions on correct Blackhawks and closeups of each medallion inserted next to each one. I may pay a professional one of these days.

Picture taking is something I like to do because it really doesn't cost anything. If you were closer I would help you do it. With digital cameras now a days it doesn't cost much at all to take any number of pics and if you don't like it delete it and take it again.

Before I started to collect actual guns I would save pictures of guns. I have just about all the guns I want now but still have the digital pics too.

With 4 kids, 4 houses and a full time job I don't have much time. If I start spending time taking pictures of my guns someone might decide I need to sell them...I think I'm pretty lucky to have them at all.

I have 1 house, 3 kids, and work full time. I usually put the kids to bed and go "play" from 10PM until my eyes go shut around 1 or 2. But I can only do that once or maybe twice a week because I'm not as young as I used to be.

When I was a kid I could stay up all night a few nights a week.

My Wife is getting tired of it I think but I am lucky too. I have to stay off gunbroker for awhile for sure.

The good thing is you have your whole life to get the pictures done since they are your guns. You could take one picture a week and be done in a couple months.
