Gotta call bs on this and a lot of other auctions I've seen lately! Ok so its a 308 and although far from rare , not exactly seen everyday , but come on!

Watched another ruger sell recently that went for over $1100 and there were two more auctions listed at the same time for identical rifles with buy now numbers for hundreds less. BS or some false bidding? Or more frequent cases of fools and their money??

It is just Gunbroker allowing people to run auctions at high prices over and over until they find a mark.

If you ever watched Gunbroker for a certain model, you will see quite a few of the same over-priced guns listed over and over again. Sometimes I make bookmarks to the same auction as it is relisted over many months just to see if anything changes (and to find a reserve). Too much time on my hands, you betcha. Doesn't happen on Auction Arms.

I am always leary of that type of behavior and scam activity as well. It does look like the winning buyer has bought several skeleton stock 77's. Looks like he is collecting them--maybe it is legit. The funny thing is that I have one with the box too and I would take way less for it!!

Auction ended and apparently boatpaddle 308's are worth $1500+!!

Unfrickinbelievable that someone paid that...I've got models a lot more rare than that and if anyone wants them for that kind of money they are gone! :)

If you look at the last few purchases of this buyer, you will see that they all have been for stainless Rugers with skeleton stocks (from different sellers as well). It seems he is trying to round out a collection of sorts.

Maybe I ought to sell my tang-safety M77.... after all, it's one of those rare rifles in .30-06..... and it's a super-rare "Liberty" to boot. Oughta fetch at least $2000 don't ya think?

Sheesh !!!

You can buy a brand new stainless MKII for a lot less and add a skeleton stock for (last time I bought one) $85 from gunpartscorp.com (Numrich Arms).

Much as I like the skeleton stocks (have three), I wouldn't pay that for one unless the sights were solid gold.

There are some fellows with several accounts that are trying to falsely set a "value" by engaging in "shill" bidding. The problem with Gun Broker is that it's incredibly easy to do this.

Those rifles sell for 450-600 bucks down here IF they're in mint or NIB condition.

No offense to those who have them, but i have always hated those stocks for looks and feel. Terrible balance and just looks cheap and crappy. Why not get a custom high end stock and some custom work done to a $450.00 MKII so it will shoot lights out? I have shot a few M77's and wouldn't hesitate to own one but none of them were even close to impressive in the accuracy dept. My #1 however, is great so I don't understand what is up with the 77's. I know there are some that are probably better than my experience, but in general I don't know anyone who regards them as tack drivers.

Well you are evidently wrong about BS I was surprised at the price too so I contacted the runner up as they are a dealer who Had other listings. They were bidding for a customer . I just sold that customer my nib 308 and 7.62 X 39 for 3000.

Well more power to someone able to sell a 77MkII for that. I will change my wording from "calling bs" to "wow , I can't believe current selling prices".

I have several 77's that are special runs done in far fewer numbers in 264 Win Mag , 2 in 7mm-08 , and 2 in 280 Rem that are for sale at those prices. Maybe more for the 2&0's since the only two I've ever seen are in my safe! :)
