GOT MY 327 RUGER

My new Ruger 8 shot 327 Blackhawk showed up today & its a dandy! The gun is very well fitted & finished (SS) & the 5 1/2" barrel balances very nicely in the hands. The first thing I noticed about the gun was the weight......its heavy! I like that in a handgun, I will always take a few more ounces of weight rather than go with a light handgun & more recoil.
With this kind of heft & the snappy little 327 cartridge the recoil is non-existent, its a joy to shoot, mine has a rather poor trigger (normal) but my gunsmith son will fix that in a hurry, we will also narrow the front sight to .100", add a belt mountain base pin & this nifty little gun is going to get a real Idaho workout, it, along with my new Alan Harton gun will be with me everyday for the next year. Both are going to get shot almost daily, the ground squirrels, rabbits, rock chucks, foxes, coyotes, crows ......& badgers had better get their life insurance premiums paid, they are in for a long year! Did run 16 rounds through it but just into a snow bank, tomorrow the fun starts!
What could possibly go better with this gun than another piece of Mike Barranti's leather! This 2 Dogs crossdraw is perfect!

Dick, you need a #5 strong side to go with that 2DXD. Your 480 in one and your new 8 shot in the other. Is a new name in order here????

Dick, what load did you run thru her ? 'sixshot' with an 8 shot, something scary about that . The varmints will be waking up to a nightmare, this spring.

Jeff, I loaded 16 rounds of 5.4 grs WST & the 100 gr cast SWC, they didn't shoot all that good. Tonight I loaded up 3 more different test loads, bumped the WST up to 5.6 grs then switched to H110 with 2 different bullets, I'll report tomorrow, also I whack a cottontail with this gun before the sun goes down! :wink:

Whatta ya mean, "if I see any tracks" aren't you my Beagle? Everybody knows rabbits run in a wide circle, with that short leg you're a natural for tracking bunnies! Just circle them back towards me & "keep an eye out"
Actually Callshot (Cant Shoot) knows he's my Beagle but I had to quit feeding him dogfood, he started chasing cars!

I was wondering when you'd get yours in hand.
That is gonna be one great gun. I too felt it balanced good in the hands when I saw them at SHOT. Let us know what loads do work out in the gun!
BTW; Sam told me not to tell,, but since it seems that everyone else got to fondle & shoot that custom 480,, & since we got held over in Houston due to my baggage etc on the way home from SHOT,, I might as well fess up & say it was fun shooting 200 rnds apiece in it.

sixshot; that old 480 won't be too worn out,, just well broken in! Besides,, they didn't have enough ammo loaded to where I could give it a proper breaking in,, (you know,, about 5000 rounds) so just chalk it up to helping smooth out the action.
And callshot is bluffing about the hydrants. They don't have any in Soda,, they just heap snow up on the fires,,! Now,, I did see some discolored tires all around sixshots house,,,??? That & several trees that were dying from a mysterious fungus,,,,all around the base!
