My boy Austin caught 4 dogs on 8 sets this morning. Dirt hole sets. Pretty good days' work, I'd say.

He's a woodsman. Very meticulous. Like to say I taught him everything he knows, but not true. The trapping thing he's figured out on his own. Not something I was ever into much.

4 dogs in 8 sets,,,, OUTSTANDING! Many folks do not understand how good that is. I tell folks that good trappers get about 1/4-1/3 of their catches in their sets.

I am proud of him. Contender, yes I think that one top left was a female, think the rest were males. He's going up to run his lines again tmrw, I'll let you all know how it goes.

Appreciate the positive comments. We are pretty eaten up with them too. We went calling last Saturday, three setups, one big male killed, called up a bobcat on another, didn't get him, struck out on the last one.

Darn nice!That is efficient.
Used to do a little trapping. I just snared cats and ran coon sets. Never tried catching yotes. Just shot em, still do :mrgreen: My stepbrother used to snare them out in the pasture trails in much the same way I ran cat snares. I know many trappers, and they'll all tell you it takes a good trapper to run dirt hole sets for yotes. Definately something to take pride in

Are yotes worth anything down there? Up here, a good coyote is about $40 right now, more if skinned.

Excellent work. He definitely knows what he is doing.
We have them do here but the land we hunt is heavily wooded so you rarely if ever see them. But I hate to hear them howling at night celibrating taking another small deer.

We're in Lauderdale Co, extreme NW county in Alabama. Coyotes were actually trapped in Tennessee, though. A farm my son has helped the owner do some development/improvement for benefit of wildlife, including this predator reduction effort.
ND Cowboy, no, because of our mild winters, hides aren't typically worth much here. Prices I've heard, I wouldn't skin a coyote for.
