I got my notice from VA in the mail that they are gearing up to give vets covid shots, and they said theyd call me when its my turn.

You have more faith in the VA than I do!! Good luck I do nothing with them.

My local VA (Haley VA Hospital) is rated as one of the best in the nation; plus they are across the street from the university where they do medical training and have an outstanding Cancer hospital too (cant think if the name right off).
When the 1095-B Health Coverage thing for federal tax purposes started I was surprised to receive one from the VA. Called and asked why and where am I enrolled.
Without discussing it with me I was enrolled as a patient in a VA hospital about a 3 hour drive away; and they changed me from Category 5 to Category 8.

Only two of the many veterans I know use (and Rosie O'Donnell about) the VA. The others have enough money and insufficient patience and don’t use it. I’m glad to know there some people who have good experiences with the VA.

My experience with the VA is great I do all of my medical stuff with them. I was told the same thing about the vaccine.
I received a voice mail message from the V.A. hospital an hour from me, saying I should call back if I want the Covid vaccine. I called the next morning and have an appointment for 3 days from now, and an appointment for the second shot 3 weeks later. They even told me I could get it right here in my town at their clinic rather than driving an hour to the hospital. But when I asked if I could bring my wife and for her to get it as well, they said no, only eligible veterans.
I'm retired military, and with 10% disability from the V.A. I could get all my care from them but since I get Medicare and Tricare for Life, both my wife and I use those sources to pay for our health care. The only thing I have used the V.A. for is for my hearing loss and the hearing aids that they issue me every few years. Staying on active duty long enough to retire from the military was one of the very best decisions that I have ever made in my life.

I've heard that if you use your VA or Medicare it all gets charged to your VA benefit.

Today, one week later, I got a call from a veterans advocate asking if I wanted to schedule a vaccination. “Heck yeah!”, says I. So, I am scheduled for this coming Thursday morning for the first shot. They will schedule the second one at that time.

I too have a separate medical plan along with Medicare. I choose that route instead of burdening the system when I have theses other options.

Got my first shot. No different then getting the flu vaccine. I was very impressed with the organized process at the Vancouver, WA VA. Go back the 17th of February for the second dose. I received the Pfizer vaccine. Thanks VA!
I got my shot today at the VA. Got there over an hour early and there was no waiting at all. Seems they're not letting folks know the vaccine is available.

Well then, don't get your shot there, or anywhere for that matter...it's up to you. Got mine today at the San Francisco VA. In and out in about 45 minutes. It was the Moderna vaccine and I already have an appointment for the second shot.
