Classic Friday Night Horror Films that children of all ages can watch and enjoy. I've been showing the B&W Classics to my children and now the grandchildren all their lives. Bella Lugosi, Lon Chaney, even the Costello movies. As they grew The Ghost & Mr Chicken, The Ghost and Mrs Muir, Arsenic & Old Lace. Even some of the Disney stuff. What are some of your family friendly Classic Friday Night Horror films?

Nightmare on Elm Street
How interesting, but do you really want children of all ages to watch it? I remember watching the Exorcist in a Hawaiian Drive in Theater, but I don't think I would let my 4 year old Gkid have that experience. JMHO YMMV?

The Witches
Tremors
Gremlins
The House with a Clock in it's Walls
Goosebumps
Hocus Pocus
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Thing 2 gave me a lot of grief about Gremlins, the Grandkids loved it, but they ran into the family room to sleep with Grandpa that evening. 🤔

Never had kids but thinking back to what I watched back then

Believe me, movies I shared with my children have caused me grief when I wanted to share them with the GKids. But Thing 2' s Oldest, ( My only Granddaughter) squealed the bugs got him when the younger GKids were watching The Mummy with Brandon Frazier. I could only laugh, Thing 2 gave me so much grief for watching that movie with my granddaughter when she was young. Thing 2 never got over the closing bug scene. LOL.

I used to watch Goosebumps with the littles. Kinda scary, sometimes made you think.

They enjoyed it.

Good list but you forgot the 1953 War of the Worlds.

Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price really freaked me out as a kid, saw it on TCM again a few years ago - meh.

I started getting collections of the Horror Classics once Universal Closed the Classic Monster Cafe and announced that the Minions would replace it. My Anniversary Edition of Horror Classics has 50 movies alone, so forgive me if I don't start making lists. But Please continue with Y'all's lists so that I can see what I'm missing. One of the best Monster moments was when I took the GKIDS on the glass bottom boat that still runs over The Creature From the Black Lagoon. We all miss BBQ and Classic clips from Universal Monsters since the Classic Monster Cafe has closed. It was a great lunch spot in the Universal Park in Florida.

Add in such greats as:

The Navy Versus The Night Monsters.
The Killer Shrews.
The Day Of The Triffids.

And the best of the horror/comedy movies for me The Giant Claw. I just about die laughing seeing that buzzard puppet! :)

War of the Worlds vs. Plan 9 From Outer Space.....both alien invasion movies, memorable for their special effects, but I guess in the end I would have to admit that War of the Worlds held a very slight edge....

Maybe...but Plan 9 has Tor Johnson.

Roger Ebert once said that any movie with Emmett Walsh or Harry Dean Stanton was worth a look, I think we can say the same about Tor. :ROFLMAO:

I thought Plan 9 was reported to be the worst sci-fi movie ever made at least that is how it was depicted in the Johnny Depp movie Ed Wood.

topic reminded me of Elvira, remember her?

Then you really, really need to watch Beast From Yucca Flats. Coleman Francis directed it, but apparently ran out of money early in the filming. You will see all characters talking in the beginning, including Tor. After a bit, you hear voices but never see anyone actually talking. Everything is filmed looking away, up from, or down from the character talking. It was dubbed in after the movie was made.

Beast of Yucca Flats wasn't bad. But if you want cowboys versus dinosaurs Valley of the Gwangi is better.
