Found---Thanks For The Help/Donations---See Update

I am putting together a stainless mini 14 for a young man that is currently watching over/defending the US Embassy in Baghdad. He is a neighborhood kid and friend of my son since kindergarten. The last time I "talked" on-line with him was on the 3rd. At that time he had been parked in an armored vehicle across the street from the embassy for 3 days. He was due to come home in April, but with the current state over there, he has no idea when he will be home now. He asked me to be on the look out for a mini 14 for him, for when he gets home. I have the gears in motion and with the help of 3 generous forum members I now have the mini 14, a handful of mags, and a scope. All I need now is a set of stainless rings. (rings have been found) Not asking for hand outs, I just need to find a set to buy and prefer to not blow the budget for new rings. Let me know if you have a set, or even if you see some on a local forum or in a gun shop that I can contact. If I can stay under budget, any extra funds I have on this will be spent on components for a few boxes of ammo I plan to load for his blasting/stress relief pleasure.

Another donation came via our friends at Ruger. Upon further inspection of the mini I discovered that the 4 gas block bolts were badly bubba/buggered. I called Ruger to get an owners manual and 4 new bolts. When I told the gal on the phone about the project I was working on, she put me on hold. When she came back on she told me the bolts, book and shipping would be covered by Ruger.

Good idea,,,just to let you know if you come across any "spare" rings , or sets, all you "need": is TWO that are the same height, they change about 1/8" from low to med to high, etc,,,so as long as you get TWO the "same" ( match) they will work on the MIni-14 Ranch rifles.......all I got here now is "parts/pieces".........

I was out most of the week myself. Got the sling, in fact sitting here messing with it right now. Thanks a bunch. Hitting a local show tomorrow to check out cases and see what else I might have to add to my collection. :wink:
