I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that this (barrel, anyway) started out as a Lyman centennial and was cut and had the front sight added. Or it could be one the 40 or so unmarked (unetched) Lyman centennials. It would be a shame if it was one fo these and had the barrel altered.
Whatever the history, that wood is great!
