Found a 95% speed six...now a question

Hi everyone new to the forum. I was hoping for some Ruger advice. I found what looks to be a 95% speed six in 357 magnum. The finish is near perfect, the timing checks out ok both single and double action, no visible damage. The seller is asking 350.00. My question is Ruger says they might not be able to service it if they don't have the part. Should this be a concern. It looks like a tough revolver but I'm nervous about buying something that is out of production.

Buy it. They are sturdy and will likely never need repair. If it does, there are lots of parts out there in the secondary market. Good price, BTW...

Is it 4"? 2.75"? Blued or stainless? What grips are on it? Those are worth that kinda money (and more) all day long.

I agree with the others. I've been looking for a nice 2.75" Speed Six for a while, and would gladly pay that for it.

$350 is a VERY good buy on that Speed-Six .357 magnum...As long as it comes with all the parts, as well as a frame, cylinder, & barrel.:).

Most of the guns I buy are well out of current production, and getting spare parts for them is rarely a big issue.

Spare parts for a great, well built revolver like a speed six would not be on my worry list.

A great price for a great revolver - buy it!

Well I bought it, I got it from the Kittery Trading post in Maine. After cleaning it up it looks like 98%+ condition. If I could post a pic on here I would. It looks to be in mint conditon.

So, what barrel-length is it? And is it blued or stainless? We gotsta know...

I have 3 similiar guns and have never needed any repair. Also there seem to be parts available for them regularly as private sales.

Its a 4 incher blue with the ruger wood grips with silver medalions. I can't believe how new it looks!

Congratulations! I passed on a similar deal on a 3" from a friendly LGS and regret. I would be more concerned these days--but not specific to the Speed Six--with finding a decent "old school" (old/acquired knowledge) gunsmith that can fix literally anything. Getting harder and harder to find.

I bought one used a few months back -- for a lot more $. It dry-fired fine in the store but at the range the recoil would knock something out of whack and the cylinder latch would jump over one of the notches -- and I could not figure it out. I think the previous owner must have monkeyed with it -- it just did not look like it was shot all that much.

So I sent it to Ruger with a letter saying I had just bought it used and so on. They changed every spring and plunger, the cylinder latch, and the entire trigger group and sent it back to me 2nd day air -- for free! So while they have spare parts, they take care of them. It now shoots perfectly -- and they gave me one heck of a trigger!
